Greetings from fourth grade. My name is Greg Jergens and I have been teaching at Iowa Valley for the past 16 years. Besides teaching I am currently the Head Girls’ Varsity Volleyball and Junior High Girls’ Track coaches.
I live with my wife Lindsey, our kids, Paige, Cecilia, Nolan, and Jersey, and dog Jada in Marengo. We love attending and supporting the Tigers’ in all of their activities.
Fourth grade is a huge transition year. We start students down the path of what they will encounter as independent learners in junior high and high school. Tiger Pride is greatly stressed, especially in being responsible for your homework completion, and most importantly being honest.
I am responsible for teaching social studies and my teaching partner Mrs. Hinrichs teaches science. The rest of our core studies are done in each of our classrooms. We try to incorporate technology as much as possible. One of the major activities we do throughout the year which students really enjoy is skyping with other classrooms and guest speakers. This allows us to take virtual fieldtrips all over the country, while learning from great sources.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me. Communication between home and school is vital to all our students success!
