Welcome, Iowa Valley Families to the 2021-2022 school year. I am very excited for the start of the next journey of my career as the Iowa Valley Superintendent. As anticipated, I have been very impressed with the support I have received from everyone in the community.

My wife and I have now figured out our living arrangements; we have sold our home in Park View and will be moving to the area in the next few weeks.  I have three sons - Nate is a teacher in Des Moines, Matthew is finishing up his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, and Jacob attends the University of Northern Iowa.  You will see all of us out and about as we are a very active family.

My background includes teaching at the Intermediate levels and I was an Elementary Principal, Director of Special Education, and Director of Building and Grounds.  Most recently, I was the Superintendent of Schools in Creston, Illinois.  I am pleased to be returning to Iowa, although I do support the Iowa State Cyclones!

I have been working diligently to gain a deeper understanding of the schools, the communities, the teachers and students.  I am confident that we will be able to hit the ground running the moment the students arrive.  I am proud to be part of our district.

As you will soon find out, I like to be involved with our students, staff, and families. Please know that I am always available to meet with you, to listen to your concerns, to share your celebrations, and to work with you to meet the needs of all our students. It is truly an honor to be selected as the Superintendent of the Iowa Valley Community School District. Here’s to a great school year! Remember, you are always welcome in your school!

Most sincerely,
Curt Rheingans, Superintendent
