DISTRICT OVERVIEW
Located 30 miles southwest of Cedar Rapids and 30 miles west of Iowa City, along Highway 6, the Iowa Valley Community School District covers over 104 square miles of beautiful north-central Iowa County along the Iowa River. Our rural public school district encompasses the towns of Marengo (population 2,500), and the unincorporated area of Koszta, Iowa. The district serves over 500 students in PK-12.

MISSION
The mission of the Iowa Valley Community School District is to provide a safe, comfortable, clean, and caring environment where community and staff work together to provide an education that will maximize each individual’s potential, instill a sense of self-worth, and prepare them for life-long learning.

THERE ARE TWO ATTENDANCE CENTERS:

  • Iowa Valley Jr./Sr. High School (229 students 7-12)
  • Iowa Valley Elementary (261 students K-6)

Each attendance center has a full-time building principal as well as a full-time school counselor. With 44 dedicated teachers, the district boasts a staff retention rate well above the state average. The staff is invested in the district and community; providing the best education possible for all students.

The continued community support of education is evidenced by the voters passing major facility and school district construction projects to support the growing needs of the district. In 2023, voters passed a $10.6 million bond to provide funds to renovate, repair, remodel, improve, furnish, and equip the existing Elementary and Junior/Senior High School buildings .
